Pointers. Continuity. Think about your page numbers. Lipstick and Lighters is your DPS feature and lead article - so would it be starting on p4? You’re correct to start it on a left-hand page (even number), but look at some other magazines – where do their splashes usually feature in the running order? Not usually after the halfway point, but with a 50-page magazine, it’s not usually on the first four pages either.
Latitude – you need to explain this a little more. It’s a music fest (I gather) but you need some kind of image (you can download this) to highlight it a little more. You can keep it congruent with the 'polariod' theme.
Make sure you caption your pix unless it’s really obvious what they’re of. You p2 pic could be of L&L, but there’s an extra member who has suddenly appeared. Granted, this is a rough and working draft, and if it’s meant to be another band’s pic that's fine, but make you leave signposts on your work to follow later on.
I’d also be tempted to have ‘Latitude’ as a full page panel in its own right, as it sounds like a high-profile festival (maybe a third page-width).
Also, watch your ‘floating’ numbers – it’s not usual to have your contents digits floating in the middle of the page like yours. Butt them up to the left of the screen, especially as page two is a right-hand page. I know you’re not doing a p3, but you still have to consider it!
On the whole, this is a great start. Well done – and keep going.
